Protect Your Art. Preserve Its Value. Present It Beautifully.

🖼 Did You Know?:
Even high-end frames bought at galleries or retail frame shops often contain acidic backings or non-archival adhesives. These materials can permanently stain or degrade artwork over time—even if they look beautiful at first. That’s why museum-standard framing matters, especially in the dry Las Vegas climate.

At Fine Art Conservation Laboratories (FACL, Inc.) in Las Vegas, we specialize in framing fine art, preserving artwork, and restoring historic picture frames

Whether you're safeguarding a family treasure, preparing art for auction, or simply want a beautiful, protective frame—our lab provides museum-quality expertise with a personal touch.

Why Framing Matters: Art Presentation & Preservation

A frame does more than display your art—it serves as a barrier against time, climate, and damage.

High temperatures, dry desert air, fluctuating humidity, and improper materials can all threaten the longevity of your artwork.

At FACL, we approach framing as both an art and a science. Every piece is evaluated for:

  • Medium (oil, watercolor, paper, canvas)

  • Condition (fragile, cracked, warped)

  • Historical and market value

  • Environmental needs (especially in Las Vegas’ dry climate)

Our Services

Antique & Fine Art Frame Restoration

We carefully restore:

  • Gilded and carved frames with cracks or missing pieces
  • Period frames from the 1800s–1950s
  • Water-damaged or smoke-affected frames
  • Loose corners or broken structure

We stabilize the frame, replicate missing ornamentation (if needed), and preserve as much original material and finish as possible—ensuring historical and market integrity.

Custom Framing for Valuable Artwork

FACL offers:

  • Archival, acid-free mat boards and mounting
  • UV-protective museum glass
  • Canvas float frames or deep-set box frames
  • Matting styles that match the period or style of the artwork

Every framing solution is built to museum standards—designed to preserve, not just present.

Real Client Story:

A Gallery Gift Framed the Wrong Way

A local client came to us with a vintage oil painting—a wedding gift from a gallery in Santa Fe. The frame was beautiful: ornate, heavy, and freshly gold-leafed. But something didn’t feel quite right.

After a quick inspection, we discovered...

  • The painting was secured with acidic tape directly onto the backing
  • There was no moisture barrier or UV protection

The decorative frame was new, but stylistically clashed with the painting’s historic period.

Worse, the client had started to notice faint discoloration forming along the canvas edge—classic signs of acid burn caused by non-archival materials.

We walked her through her options:

  1. Safely remove the tape and assess any damage
  2. Design a new frame solution using a period-appropriate style
  3. Use museum-grade mounting and glass to stop further deterioration

She was relieved.

“The gallery said it was museum quality,” she said, “but you’re the only ones who showed me what that actually means.”

We re-framed the piece using archival methods, preserving the integrity of the canvas and giving it a look that both matched the period and protected it for future generations.
